First of all, THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR GENEROSITY!!!!
We collected a total of $2,510.55 which in the Colombian currency came to CO$4,462,830,00 according to the Interbank exchange rate of the day it was sent.

Things have changed quite a bit for Max already:

1. Although the money that was collected would’ve been enough to pay for a whole school year at a private school in Bogotá, Max told Tatiana and myself that he didn’t want to feel at the end of 2010 too much pressure in order to get a scholarship, or otherwise to have to go back to the boarding school he had spent so many years at. After a lot of consideration, they decided that a public school would be a more sensible thing to do.
2. That being the case, Max also insisted that although he loves and respects Tatiana as if she was his mum, he would prefer to live with his real mum and sisters and help them and protect them from now on which he had never been able to do from the boarding house.
3. Tatiana had a meeting with Max’s mum and grandmother. It has been agreed that
a. Max will stay with them and go to a public high school nearby.
b. Tatiana will invest some money on organizing a space for Max at his mum’s place, with a bed and a desk so that he does his studies.
c. Tatiana will control all money and will keep a log and receipts of all money spent.
d. Max will spend 2 weekends per month at Tatiana’s house where she will keep track of his school tasks and learning process.
e. Max’s grandmother will be in touch with Tatiana on a daily bases.
f. Tatiana will provide Alex’s mum with a fortnightly grocery shop for Max.
4. As the school expenses will be considerably lower, 40% of the money will be kept for the immediate costs (uniforms, clothing, bed and mattress, etc) and the rest will be put in a high interest account and kept for future / long term needs.
5. Max will soon start his own blog to let everyone know what he is up to. He is really looking forward to it.
